Some bad habits to quit and stay away from depression

The alarming growth in the number of depression victims all around the world is a serious health issue. The mental illness seems to be affecting teens, adults, and elders. Report of World Health Organization (WHO) states that these rising figures of depression patients are the wake-up call to rethink about mental health and its treatment in urgent basis.
This report also states that the fall in the mental health of the individuals is the major causes of the suicidal attempts. In years 2015 approximately five crore Indians are suffering from depression in extreme level.
Depression is a very commonly seen mental disorder in which people suffer from prolonged period of sadness, which affects not just the mood but the daily routine as well. Patients feel so much difficulty to wake up in the morning and visible changes in the behavior sense of well- being and feeling are also seen. This negative state of the mind also triggers many other health issues including suicidal tendency as well.
Our regular activities can also play a big role in the health and the unhealthy habits can lead to the onset of various depression symptoms.
1. Internet addiction – Excess use of the internet may increase the risk of the mental health issues like anxiety and depression, especially in the teenagers. The report says that people with internet addiction have greater trouble in the day to day activities in personal and social life as well.
2. Sleeping in daytime- A most common symptom of depression can be improper sleep. Physiologically sleep disturbance like taking much time to sleep of wake up in the midnight causes drowsiness in individuals and undergoes depression as well.
3. Binge eating – when we feel hungry we start eating anything in extra amount as well. Binge eating of fast food, oily foods doesn’t just multiplies the fat around your body, but also drag you to the risk if depression as well. Depressed people with binge eating episodes experiences obesity very quickly and become the reason of depression with poor self-esteem, reduced mobility, and weight stigma.
4. Too much stress – stress of hectic lives comes with the severe health consequences. Serotonin is a popular hormone in the human body referred as happiness hormone. It plays a dramatic role in the individual’s psychological and mental wellbeing. Due to excess stress, the level of serotonin secretion reduces and develops depression.
Depression very easily develops in people but is also can be cured with some small changes in the lifestyle. “Be happy, stay active, eat healthily” these three are the key roles of life which can simply care depression and keep people away from the mental consequences.
